Caroline Carter Smith

Adjunct Professor, Inter Partes to the USPTO

Caroline Smith has been practicing in the field of Trademark Law since 1998, when she became a Trademark Examining Attorney at the U.S. Trademark Office. She has been in private practice since 2000 and currently is of counsel at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. in Concord, NH.

Her practice focuses primarily on trademark clearance and prosecution, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Trademark Office, enforcement, IP licensing and transfers and due diligence. She also has experience in counseling and managing the development, protection, enforcement and maintenance of worldwide trademark portfolios. She teaches Inter Partes Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Procedure, as well as International and Comparative Trademark Law.

Smith received her B.S. from Washington and Lee University and her J.D., cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law.
