Stephen L. Tober, of Tober Law Offices in Portsmouth, NH, served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary for 2005-06, and in that role testified on behalf of the ABA before the US Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the nominations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito.

Tober has long been active in state and national bar leadership, including service as president of the New Hampshire Bar Association and the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association; as a member of the ABA Board of Governors; and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Tober has twice received the New Hampshire Bar’s President’s Distinguished Service Award; has served as a member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court’s Board of Bar Examiners, and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Foundation, and the New Hampshire Bar Foundation. Tober also continues to be recognized for his professional services in The Best Lawyers in America and New England Superlawyers.

He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Syracuse University, where he was an editor of the Syracuse Law Review.
