RESIDENTIAL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Residential International Student Orientation will be held August 13-August 15. This is required for graduate students and strongly recommended for JD students. Information will be shared through email with students that should attend.

The Admissions Office will consider a JD student's request to defer admission after the $750 nonrefundable seat deposit has been made, and the admitted student has submitted to the Admissions Office a written request to defer admission. The seat deposit will be credited to the student's tuition for their first semester. JD students may defer to the following fall year.

Several months before matriculation, the Admissions Office will contact deferred students with an updated admission letter that includes the new enrollment date. Admissions will also request updates to contact information and the character and fitness section of the application. Students may also be asked to submit an updated resume. Students will be asked to confirm their intent to matriculate by submitting a final tuition seat deposit of $250. This additional deposit will be credited to the first semester tuition bill.

Students are only eligible to defer one time. After this, students will need to reapply for admission.

We do not require students to have a laptop, but you will find life in law school to be much easier with one. Approximately 98 percent of our students type their exams, so having a laptop is nearly a must. Please review the computer requirements.

  • October dates TBD
  • March dates TBD
  • June dates TBD

Orientation will begin at 8:30 AM on August 21 and will finish the Immersion by 5:00 PM EST on August 25. The safest days to travel to ensure you do not miss any class time are the day before and the day after immersion.

Hybrid Student Orientation will be held on Wednesday, August 21. You should anticipate orientation being from 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Orientation is required for all incoming students.

In mid-July, you will receive access to an orientation webpage that can be accessed with your UNH email.  You will be responsible for reviewing this information and familiarizing yourself with your responsibilities and obligations as an incoming law student.

  • Please wear professional attire for orientation. You will be taking your professional picture which will be used for your ID card and any news release we may send out about you during your tenure at UNH Law.
  • If you have a documented disability and anticipate needing accommodations during your law school tenure, you will need to request accommodations through Student Accessibility Services. You can find information about requesting accommodations here.
  • Hybrid JD students are required to attend all immersion periods in person. The American Bar Association accredits law schools and law degrees. As part of our program, the ABA requires students to participate in four in-person periods of instruction each year, for 4-5 days at a time. To ensure attendance for the full immersion, students are encouraged to plan travel for the day before immersion begins and the day after immersion ends. Students who wish to request that they be excused from attending an immersion in-person must have that accommodation or alternative attendance approved a minimum of 10 days prior to the immersion.  Exceptions to in-person attendance are made for limited reasons including: 1) Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Accommodations; 2) Emergency accommodations for a medical emergency prior to the start of Immersion that does not rise to an ADA accommodation; and 3) Alternative Attendance arrangements are rare and will only be granted for actively deployed military personnel with letters describing deployment or other military obligations. Alternative Attendance Arrangements for non-ADA Accommodations will not be granted for weddings, family vacations, work obligations, or similar events.
