Patent Portfolio Management

This course will focus on knowledge and skills related to the development and management of patent portfolios within an organization. Topics will include invention harvesting, strategic portfolio development, valuation, licensing and enforcement strategy, and administration of patent resources. While there is no formal prerequisite for the class, it is expected that students will have at least basic knowledge of intellectual property, including patents and patent law. By the end of the course, the students should be able to produce a basic plan for developing, administering and/or exploiting a portfolio of related patent resources, and started to develop the patent portfolio administration skills needed by in-house patent professionals.
