Publishing Law

The need for protection under publishing law is gaining more attention with the advent of the internet and the various "electronic book" forms. The internet has challenged the role and definition of "author" and "holder of copyright". In addition, the concept of "free expression" is many times brought into the mix as is the concept of "publicity and privacy rights". The student will be introduced to the above mentioned law disciplines and the issues when these disciplines clash. The student will be exposed to the very special protections that lie within copyright law applicable to the publishing industry. The student will be able to identify the above issues and will be able to present the client with legal positions within the context of copyright law and contract law.
