Biography

Professor Tom Hemstock is responsible for selecting, managing and promoting the library’s licensed databases as well as the research portion of the library’s web pages. Additionally, he works with faculty to support their scholarship and participates in the library’s instructional programs including teaching first year legal research.

Hemstock’s academic interests include developing engaging and practical real world legal research exercises and promoting research techniques via social media such as blogs. His scholarship will focus on the evaluation of electronic databases, new trends in teaching legal research and emerging research technology.

He is a member of the American Association of Law Librarians and Law Librarians of New England.

Prior to joining Pierce Law in 2009, he worked as the first reference librarian at the recently founded Charlotte School of Law.

In his spare time, Hemstock enjoys hiking, playing chess, Scrabble and blogging.
