Scott Bauman has been Vice President, Litigation Counsel, for over a decade at Universal Music Group, the largest music company in the world. In his role, Mr. Bauman oversees and manages litigation for all of Universal’s labels, including Interscope, Def Jam, Capitol, Motown and Republic, as well as its music publishing company. Prior to working at Universal, Mr. Bauman was a litigation attorney at the Los Angeles law firm of Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp where he represented major record labels and music publishing companies, including as part of the team that represented plaintiffs in their U.S. Supreme Court victory over Grokster. Mr. Bauman obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and his Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. Bauman will share his long, strange trip from law firm associate to artist management to music publishing transactional attorney to record company executive back to his old law firm to his current position overseeing litigation for the largest music company in the world, and regale attendees with stories of his involvement in some of the leading intellectual property lawsuits of the past thirty years.
