Bezhad Mirhashem

Behzad Mirhashem was born in Iran, and came to the United States in 1978. He graduated from Williams College in 1982, then obtained his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maryland (1987) and his J.D. from Northeastern (1993).

Behzad was a public defender in NH from 1993 to 2008, handling cases ranging from disorderly conduct to homicide. For three of those years, he was an Assistant Appellate Defender, arguing criminal appeals before the NH Supreme Court. He then joined the Federal Public Defender Office, where he handled trial and appellate level cases in federal court in Boston and Concord for several years. After leaving the Federal Public Defender Office, he opened a private criminal defense practice in Manchester.

He was an adjunct professor at UNH Law for almost a decade and joined as a full-time faculty member in 2015.
