Dispute Resolution in IP: Strategies & Alternatives

This course is designed to explore the intersecting areas of intellectual property rights, alternatives to litigation (ADR), and business for resolving intellectual property related disputes. Subjects to be covered will include: why ADR is used in IP cases and the benefits of using it; commonly used forms of ADR in IP cases; strategies to consider in choosing and using ADR in IP cases; creative uses of ADR in IP cases; drivers and influencers for resolving IP disputes; and how "early case assessment" can be used to evaluate, resolve and manage IP disputes and achieve business objectives. Students will apply in class what they have learned to a case scenario.
