Adjunct Professor, Defamation Law and Litigation
Joseph Steinfield is a member of the Boston law firm Prince Lobel Tye, where he specializes in business and First Amendment litigation. He also serves regularly as an arbitrator and mediator.
He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Law Institute. He formerly served as chair of the Massachusetts Clients Security Board and is currently a member of the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct. In the fall of 2011, he was a visiting lecturer at Herzen Pedagogical University of Russia in St. Petersburg, where he taught “Freedom of Speech and Press” to Russian undergraduate students.
He graduated from Brown University and Harvard Law School and clerked for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. In 2000, he served as special counsel and as special prosecutor in the New Hampshire Supreme Court impeachment proceedings.
