Public interest employers rarely have the funding to do expansive fall recruiting. Instead, they rely on the initiative of the job seekers.
They seek students who have the passion and compassion for providing representation to the underserved.
Even though some of the summer jobs are not paid, they still can be very competitive. Don't assume that public interest jobs are a "backup" if you can't find another job. Plan early.
Public interest lawyers have the highest job satisfaction of all practicing lawyers.

The EJW Job Fair has over 200 public interest and public service employers participate. Open to 2Ls and 3Ls.
