European Union Legal and Political Overview

The European Union is a modern experiment in shared sovereignty that has been evolving since the end of World War II. This course is designed to provide an overview of the relevant EU legal and political systems. The course will explore the main features of the Union, the institutional framework, the relationship with the Member States and the judicial system. The course also includes a visit to the Cork Court House, with an opportunity to meet with a member of the Irish judiciary and Irish practitioners.
