Micky Minhas is Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel for Microsoft Incorporated in Redmond, Washington.

For over the past 6 years, Micky manages the Microsoft patent group primarily responsible for outbound and inbound intellectual property licensing, patent strategy, patent acquisitions and divestitures, and managing patent preparation and prosecution of patents.  He has also had responsibilities for Microsoft’s conflicts, indemnification and prelitigation practice. 

For the prior 13 years, Micky served most recently as the Vice President of Patent Strategy at Qualcomm Incorporated in San Diego, California, where he was responsible for developing patent and licensing strategies for their multi-billion dollar patent licensing program.  During his tenure at Qualcomm, he held a variety of roles including worldwide responsibility for preparation and filing of patents, litigation preparation and arbitrations, acquisitions, and head of their European Patent Oppositions practice.

Micky is a frequent speaker on patent and patent licensing topics worldwide. 

Micky received a JD and an LLM focusing on intellectual property from the Franklin Pierce Center (UNH), an MS in electrical engineering from George Washington University, and a BS in electrical engineering from Marquette University.
