UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law always maintains at least one UNH Police Officer and/or Student Campus Safety Officer when the law school is open.
We strongly encourage all UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law community members to put the UNH Police Dispatch phone number into your cell phone. This number is 603-862-1212.This number will connect you to UNH Dispatch and they can connect you to the Concord Police Department or the on-campus student safety officer. If you are concerned that you or a friend is in immediate danger, please call 911.
If you are on campus (including walking around campus or in the parking lot) and see something that is concerning to you, please inform the on-call campus student safety officer by informing them at reception or by calling the dispatch number. Campus safety officers are also available to escort Franklin Pierce Law community members to their car whenever the law school is open so don’t hesitate to ask one of them to walk you to your car if you’re feeling unsafe.
If you are off campus and see something that is concerning to you or a friend for safety reasons, don’t hesitate to call 911 or call the Concord Police Department at 603-225-8600.
Curtailment notification announcements are made by 6 am, when possible. The decision to curtail operations is made because road conditions are dangerous, the campus is unprepared for parking and pedestrian traffic, or there are utility and power outages. DO NOT call the police department to inquire about curtailed operations.
Once operations are curtailed, announcements will be made via the following outlets:
- The UNH Alert System will be activated. Sign up now: alert.unh.edu
- Email messaging sent via directed communication
- Storm Information Line (603) 862-0000
- WMUR-TV
Please note that the limited operations at the Concord campus differ from those at the Durham and Manchester campuses. During this period, only facilities personnel are permitted on campus.
In person classes will not occur in the event of curtailment, but classes may proceed virtually. It is up to each faculty member to decide; please monitor your email and Canvas.
Online exams will continue as scheduled, while in-person exams will be postponed. Please expect further details from your professor and/or the registrar’s office.
When the university curtails operations, The Jury Box will be closed.
Parking in the law school parking lots is prohibited during curtailed operations except for those community members with an overnight parking permit. Visit the parking & transportation page for information regarding overnight parking permits.
The Emergency Management Division of UNH oversees the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) program for the University, including the law school, and is responsible for the placement and upkeep of all AEDs on UNH properties. It also assists in the instruction of CPR and AEDs. If you would like to schedule AED training for your group, email our AED Coordinator.
Both AEDs and First Aid/Stop Bleed Kits can be found at these locations at the law school:
- First floor: Across from the Tenney Board Room.
- First floor: In The Jury Box, next to the monitor.
- Second floor: Near room 282.
- Second floor: Across the hallway from Career Services.
- Third floor: In the IP library, near glass doors separating the two rooms.
- 10 White Street: First floor across from the conference room.
Security will provide escorts to and from on-campus locations for students, staff, and faculty. The number to call for a walking escort is (603) 513-5130.
