"Small But Mighty..." An Article
Co-authored by Law Library Director Susan Drisko Zago, "Small But Mighty: Small Academic Law Libraries' Specialty Legal Collections as Cues for Contemporary Collective Development" article was written to explore the theme of the evolving landscape of law library collections as part of the University of Iowa Law Library’s second annual Law Collections Symposium with the theme of “Cultivating Collections in Times of Change.”
The Symposium was co-organized by Carissa Vogel (UNH Law, J.D. 2005), Law Library Director of the University of Iowa Law Library, and Amanda Runyon, Associate Dean and Director of the Biddle Law Library, University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.
Susan and Jane Woldow, Director of the Vermont Law and Graduate School's Cornell Library, presented their paper Small but Mighty: The Care and Maintenance of Specialty Legal Collections by Small Academic Law Libraries at the Iowa Law Library's Law Collections Symposium.
The presentation moderator, Nicholas Mignanelli (UNH Law, JD '16), Assistant Dean and Director of the Mabee Legal Information Center, University of Tulsa College of Law provided remarks and led the questions from the participants.
In line with the theme of the symposium, Cultivating Collections in Time of Change, Zago says, "Jane and I wrote the piece to talk about the specialty collections of smaller law libraries. Jane brought her experience from Vermont Law, which has an extensive Environmental Law collection, and I drew on my experience at UNH FP Law, with the Intellectual Property Library. This article explores how small academic law libraries with limited resources can successfully develop and maintain specialized legal collections by aligning their acquisition and management strategies with their institution's specific curricular missions."
