Personal Announcements

Douglas Wood ’76 writes “In the spirit of good news during these unprecedented times, the 2020 Independent Press Awards just recognized DARK DATA: Control, Alt Delete as a winner in the Political Thriller category. I am honored to receive this award and thank everyone for their continued support. As we enter a new month in quarantine, I hope you and your families are continuing to stay safe and are making the most of this less-than-ideal situation.”

Carolyn Baldwin ’77 reports that she formally retired several years ago, and is proud to watch, from a distance, BCM Environmental & Landlaw as the firm expands and continues to represent environmental and local/regional planning issues throughout northern New England. Her children continue to live and work on their farm in Gilmanton.

Larry Abramson ’78 writes “Our son, Marc's wedding to his intended, Liz Yoder, had to be postponed from May 9, to December 5. They are handling this little setback really well and we are all now looking forward to December. My family had a lovely Virtual Passover Seder and are all seem to be coping well at home. I hope all come through this pandemic in good shape.”

Gabrielle Clemens ‘92 is a  Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA*), JD, LLM, Accredited Estate Planner (AEP*), Financial Advisor at RBC Wealth Management – U.S. and Managing Director at Clemens Private Wealth Management Group and Seaport Boston Private Wealth Management. She has been named to Forbes’ “Top Women Wealth Advisors” List. According to Forbes, the ranking is based on an algorithm of qualitative data, such as interviews with advisors, a review of best practices, service and investing models, and compliance records; as well as quantitative data, like revenue trends and assets under management.

Peter Murphy ‘04 has started a new position as Empowered Official and Facilities Security Officer at Leidos SD&A.

Seamus Boyce ’06 has joined the law firm of Kroger Gardis & Regas, LLP in Government Practice as a partner focusing in the areas of education and public policy.

William (Bill) Halford ‘06 started a position as Executive Vice President Legal as Cognitive Systems Corp.

Christopher Hanba ‘06 started a new position as Litigator & Partner at Connor Kudlac Lee PLLC in Austin Texas.

Larry Riggs ‘06 joined the USPTO in 2006 as an examiner in AU 1631 Bioinformatics in classes 702 and 703.  He became a Primary Examiner in August of 2012. He has previously served as Acting SPE in AU 1631 and, since 2019, he has been on detail as a SPE-Trainer at the Patent Training Academy.  Larry has also been a chemist for Boehringer-Mannheim (Roche) of Indianapolis, a laboratory manager at the Walther Oncology Center at the IUPUI Medical Center of Indianapolis, and a law clerk at Beliveau, Fradette, Doyle & Gallant.  In his spare time, Larry enjoys traveling with his wife and two sons, practicing Tae Kwon Do, and his residential duties as a sous chef. Suni Sukduang ’07 is one of eleven Polsinelli attorneys to earn a place in the 2020 IAM Patent 1000 individual rankings of the “world’s leading patent professionals.” Suni is an IP litigator located in the Houston Office of Polsinelli.

Nicklas Anderson ’08 is a Co-Founder of Evolutions Consulting Group.

Raman Bharatula (LLM) ‘08 has joined Pierce Atwood LLP as Counsel.  He is a registered patent attorney, focusing his practice on prosecution, counseling, and litigation in the electronic and software arts.

Stephen LeBarron ‘08 started a new position as Senior Director, Intellectual Property at Foundation Medicine.

Jennifer Codding ‘10 is Senior Counsel at Massey Law group, practicing real estate law in St. Petersburg, Florida.  On April 2, 2019, the Florida Department of State authorized Jennifer Codding to perform remote online notarizations for persons located anywhere in the United States over a secure audio-video connection. Additionally, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida has appointed Jennifer Codding to serve as a member at large of its administrative council.

Kevin Repper ’11 started a new position as Patent Attorney at Kilyk &Bowersox PLLC in Virginia. Kevin’s practice includes drafting and filing patent applications, patent prosecution, and providing legal opinions.

Mindy Brown ‘12 began her career at the USPTO in May 2012.  She is admitted to practice before the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bar.  While at the USPTO, she has served on detail to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and to the Deputy Commissioner for Patent Quality.  She enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with their dogs, and any textile craft.  Mindy will be SPE of Art Unit 1636.

Lydea Irwin ‘15 has joined Wolters Kluwer Legal and Regulatory as a Securities Solutions Consultant.

Gadjadhar Bhakta (MIP) ‘17 joined Proskauer Rose LLP as a Patent Agent.

Mike Untiet ‘ 07 Started as Director of Legal Affairs at NextCure, Inc.

Obituaries

This month we mourn the passing of David Bownes ’82 and Trenton Bradford Osten ’11.
