UNH FP Hybrid Class

With 240 students set to enroll for the fall semester, the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law will welcome its largest class, one that is 25% larger than last year’s incoming JD cohort.

Of the JD students set to begin their law school journeys in August, 140 will enroll in the residential program and 96 in the Hybrid JD in Intellectual Property, Information, and Technology Law Program, while four will join the law school as transfer students. The incoming students also represent the most diverse class in the history of UNH Franklin Pierce, as 28% identify as members of minority groups and 16% identify as LGBTQIA+.

“I am always impressed by the backgrounds and achievements of the students in our incoming class,” Dean Megan Carpenter says. “We look forward to helping them on the next chapters of their academic journeys and are proud they have chosen to take this next step at UNH Franklin Pierce.”

Coming in with an average age of 29, members of the JD Class of 2026 begin law school  with a variety of backgrounds and experiences, from engineering to business to many paths in between. Thirty-three percent come from backgrounds in STEM, while 8% are veterans and 82% come from outside New Hampshire. The students represent 34 U.S. states plus Washington, D.C. The most represented outside of the Granite State include New York, New Jersey, Texas, California, Florida, and Virginia. The JD class also welcomes international students from China, Japan, and South Korea.

“I am delighted by the intellectual strength, professional experience and diversity of backgrounds of the members of the Class of 2026,” Associate Dean for Administration and Enrollment Shane Cooper says. “The fact that so many well-qualified students chose UNH Franklin Pierce is a testament to the strength of our programs, the outstanding success of our alumni, the excellence of our faculty, our caring and committed staff, and our vibrant campus community.”
