
Seth Oranburg
I am a Professor of Law at UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, specializing in Contract Law, Business Law, Transactional Law, and Trade Secret Law. <br><br>My research focuses on the intersection of law, technology, and innovation. My books include A History of Financial Technology: From American Incorporation to Crowdfunding (Cambridge University Press, 2022) and Contract Law: Rules, Cases, and Problems (Carolina Academic Press, 2023). My recent articles address blockchain technology, ESG disclosures, labor laws in the gig economy, and regulatory democratization.<br><br>As Director of the Program on Organizations, Business, and Markets at NYU School of Law’s Classical Liberal Institute, I facilitate interdisciplinary research and dialogues on business law and economics. My role involves organizing symposia and conferences, collaborating with scholars, and overseeing academic publications.<br><br>In 2024, I was honored with the Teacher of the Year award for my innovative teaching methods and commitment to student engagement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned to online education, enhancing student learning through my YouTube videos and interactive sessions. I have received grants from the Asness Family Foundation and the John Templeton Foundation for my research on financial technology and entrepreneurship.<br><br>My academic journey includes teaching positions at Duquesne University, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Florida State University. At Duquesne, I directed the JD/MBA program and created the Business Essentials for Lawyers micro-credential program.<br><br>My professional experience in venture finance transactions at Fenwick and West LLP in Silicon Valley informs my teaching. I remain licensed to practice law in California. I bring practical skills regarding law & entrepreneurship into the classroom to prepare students for careers as transactional attorneys.<br><br>Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, I earned my B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Florida and my J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School.<br><br>Feel free to connect with me to explore the evolving intersections of law and technology.
