When asked about what she appreciates most about her time at UNH Franklin Pierce, Maame Aba Cobbinah, LLM-IP ’25, says it’s the sense of community.

Cobbinah, who is originally from Ghana, also speaks of the extended community of Concord, New Hampshire, describing it as a “safe, communal, and family-oriented” environment, with restaurants, bars, stores, and social opportunities available downtown — within walking distance from the law school campus.

“It’s a city that gives the feeling of a small town,” Cobbinah says of Concord.

Academically, Cobbinah, who previously earned her LLB from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, particularly enjoyed the Intellectual Property and Transaction Clinic, where she was able to gain experience as a student attorney under the guidance of seasoned trademark attorney and Professor Cassandra LaRae-Perez

“The IP Clinic class was an avenue to brainstorm and engage with the thought process of other clinic participants,” she adds.

In addition to the skills she gained through the clinic, Cobbinah is grateful she had the opportunity to connect with professors and peers, and hone her American-style writing skills, which she believes will serve her well in the future.

“I am glad I chose UNH Franklin Pierce for my LLM in Intellectual Property law,” she adds. “The professors are well-versed in the areas they teach, approachable, available to assist you in getting a better understanding of course material outside of regular class hours and also encourage students to be confident in their own opinions.”
